CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Finally this hour, it's an annual post-holiday question, what to do with the fruitcake your Aunt Edna sent? The people in one Colorado town have a suggestion, you just toss it.

Nicole Hernandez at CNN affiliate KKTC covers the great fruitcake toss.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

NICOLE HERNANDEZ, KKTC-TV REPORTER (voice-over): Toss, throw, catapult or fly, you can do practically anything to see how far your fruitcake can really go.

UNKNOWN MALE: We have Stud our (UNINTELLIGIBLE) which we've won the fruitcake toss with for the last two years.

HERNANDEZ: Stud is the name of this group's fruitcake throwing device, but their first throw didn't make it very far.

They're the defending champions.

UNKNOWN FEMALE: All of the fruitcakes have to be weighed. We do have three different categories, and they have to make sure there's no bricks in them.

HERNANDEZ: In other words, it has to be 100 percent fruitcake. If tossing isn't your style, why not enter your fruitcake in the glamour contest?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It looks so tropical.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Kind of cool, you've got to do something with fruitcake.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Actually, I prefer to eat them, but I'm in the minority around here.
