CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: You know usually only supermodels and Hollywood stars grace the pages of fashion magazines, but a photo spread in "Vogue" is causing an uproar overseas.
CNN's Diana Muriel has the pictures of the prince and his poultry.

DIANA MURIEL, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): The royal seal of approval for the February edition of British "Vogue." Heir to the throne, Prince Charles, while not picked as a cover boy, graces the pages inside with a six-page spread. Photographed exclusively for "Vogue" by Mario Testino, Charles chose to have himself pictures feeding chickens at his country estate.
"Vogue" Editor Alexandra Shulman says Prince Charles broke the mold with his unorthodox choice.
ALEXANDRA SHULMAN, EDITOR, BRITISH VOGUE: I think on the whole, he's quite kind of conventional, but we have this picture of him feeding chickens in a wonderful Pakistani wool coat that he was given from Pakistan. So he's obviously got a kind of quirky side and possibly a bit of dandy as well.
MURIEL: But Prince Charles as fashion icon?
SHULMAN: I don't think he's got any desire to be a fashion icon. And no, I don't think that's probably going to happen.
MURIEL: The British public seems to agree.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: He's all right. There's nothing striking, is there? There's -- he does his best.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I thought the photographs looked quite good. I think it was flattering, but I don't think it's really -- I don't think it sells "Vogue" particularly.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I guess in a kind of a traditional sort of English country gent kind of a way, but I don't think he's going to have the same impact that Princess Diana had.
MURIEL: Indeed, Mario Testino's photographs of Princess Diana, which appeared in "Vanity Fair," would be hard to beat. But there was another reason for the "Vogue" shoot.
(on camera): The photographs will be exhibited here at London's National Portrait Gallery next month as part of a retrospective of Testino's work. And Prince Charles, who admires Testino, obliged by enabling these contemporary photographs of himself to be taken for the show.
