CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: The Super Bowl in New Orleans may be the safest place in America on Sunday. The Secret Service is handling security for the game. Various law enforcement agencies will also be on duty. The game is being called a national security event. Everyone at the Superdome, including the players, will be screened before they can enter.
Among those going through Super Bowl security will be a large contingent of New England Patriots fans from Foxborough, Massachusetts. Reporter Pam Cross from affiliate WCVB found the point spread favoring St. Louis means nothing to these fans.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
PAM CROSS, CNN AFFILIATE WCVB (voice-over): It takes a while to pack up 700 relatives, staffers and close friends, but that was the operation. Call them the "Patriots Support Group," in high spirits headed for the big game.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think they have a chance against St. Louis. They played pretty well against them up here, a couple of bad breaks. Who knows what the outcome could have been? I think they have a good chance. They're on a roll.
CROSS: And what's the prognosis from the medical staff?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think this team has done an incredible job this year. They are well coached. They are really hungry, and I really think they are going to win.
CROSS: The friends of the players have no doubt.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They lost to them here. They've got a chance to go back down there and beat them for the big one. They lost to Pittsburg in the playoffs in '97. They returned the favor, four big games though. The guys are going to win the big things. You can't lose three times in New Orleans now.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Corporate friends, correct, and (UNINTELLIGIBLE) to be a neighbor here, and I am glad they stayed here. It worked out well for the whole town of Foxborough and all of the businesses.
CROSS: A season ticket holder grabbed his '97 Mardi Gras beads and a seat on the (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What's it going to be like down there? What do you think, Brent (ph)?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Nothing.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Nothing. It's going to be it's Mardi Gras, it's Super Bowl. It's going to be awesome.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It's a good time.
CROSS: And a little jambalaya for dinner. I am Pam Cross, News Center 5.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
COSTELLO: Jambalaya sounds good, doesn't it? We're going to take you New Orleans tonight for a preview of the big game, "LIVE FROM THE SUPER BOWL" with Bob Lorenz Aaronson, 8:00 p.m. Eastern on CNN -- be sure to catch that.
