CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: A real tongue twister is getting a Detroit area pooch her 15 minutes of fame. You've got to look at this. Brandy the Boxer has a tongue that's 17 inches long. Just want that to set in.
Reporter Sandra Ali of our Detroit affiliate WJBK lick -- I mean looks at this story.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
SANDRA ALI, WJBK-TV REPORTER (voice-over): Looking at it will leave you tongue tied. How many dogs you know sport a 17 incher. Brandy, the 7-year-old Boxer, a pooch that might just get the prize for the longest tongue around.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think it's the longest tongue in the world. I'm trying to find out through, you know, "Guinness" or whatever if it is.
ALI: Weighing in at 85 pounds, a healthy dog with a healthy appetite causing quite a stir in St. Clair Shores.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: People are shocked. It's usually a lot of.
ALI: Brandy already has a fan club, her own Web site, tungdog.com, and a line of spiffy sportswear. She loves pudding and she's always thirsty, but she can't go outside without the sunscreen.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: See how her tongue hangs out like this? In the summertime, which loves to be out there, she'll get a tan line running across the part of her tongue that's outside of her mouth because it's usually always out at least 7 to 8, like about now or this is a little bit longer, but it can go from 7 to 8 to 14. But the area that's always out gets tan lines.
ALI (on camera): And you better believe it, if you get a kiss from Brandy you'll know it, right?
(voice-over): No idea why Brandy's tongue is so long, it's just one of those freak things you can't explain. You just have to see it to believe it.
(on camera): Here in the house?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
ALI (voice-over): Sandra Ali, Fox 2 News.
(LAUGHTER)
COSTELLO: So it was -- it is with some trepidation that we have to toss it to you, Jack, in New York after that story.
JACK CAFFERTY, CNN ANCHOR: I've got nothing to say.
COSTELLO: Actually, when the -- when the dog was a puppy, it had that extraordinarily long tongue and the owners were told that the dog would eventually grow into the tongue but didn't work, didn't happen.
CAFFERTY: Apparently not. I've got nothing.
