HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: In Virginia Beach, Virginia, the prosecution in the D.C. sniper trial of John Allen Muhammad is focusing on a stolen laptop computer and DNA evidence. Court resumes in just about three and a half hours from now.
Our Jeanne Meserve is covering the trial and joins us from there.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
JAMIE MCINTYRE, CNN SR. PENTAGON CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Ballistics will be the subject of testimony Thursday.
Wednesday, a lot of other forensic evidence -- testimony that residue was found in John Muhammad's Chevy Caprice, residue consistent with a firing of a weapon in that vehicle.
An expert testified that a laptop computer found in the car contained map, showing routes to some of the sniper shooting scenes, some of those scenes marked with skull and crossbones icons. Also in the computer was what appeared to be the rough draft of an extortion note written eight days before a note was found at the Ponderosa shooting scene.
Also, experts said a voice recording of two men insisting that their demands be met. Detectives identified the voices as those of Muhammad and Malvo.
Also, expert testimony about an electronic organizer. Found in it, a listed headed "people to die later."
There also was a lot of DNA and fingerprint evidence introduced. One expert testified there was a high probability that Muhammad's DNA was on a rifle sight that was found in the car but separate from the Bushmaster rifle. But the bulk of the DNA and fingerprint evidence appeared to link Lee Malvo to the crimes.
Jeanne Meserve, CNN, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
