CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: If you're flying today, hold on for just a second, our Travelocity's Air Traffic Expert Rally Caparas in the house.
RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: That's me.
COSTELLO: I'm having trouble this morning.
CAPARAS: Hey, I have it every morning, so don't feel bad.
COSTELLO: OK.
CAPARAS: Well, it's going to be one of those days, Carol. It's going to be a tough day to fly today, folks, if you are headed into the East. In the northeastern quarter of the United States, I don't usually group these airports together, but I will this morning because things are going to be very similar at those locations.
Washington, D.C. Metros, the Detroit Metro Wayne County Airport and Cincinnati-Covington will all see some low clouds, very dense fog this morning, about an eighth of a mile visibility at some of those airports already this morning. You can expect 30 to 45-minute arrival delays as a result. It will burn off later on for pretty good conditions and on-time schedules this afternoon and evening. So good news is on its way, but not this morning.
Atlanta and Memphis, down here in the South, we're going to see another day like we saw yesterday, lots of low clouds, plenty of rain, poor visibility on the airport surface. As a result, we'll see 30 to 45-minute arrival delays all the way into the evening hours.
Chicago O'Hare and Midway, you're going to see similar conditions that we see here in Atlanta. However, the volume there with the congestion of the airports in proximity of one another, Chicago O'Hare and Midway, you will see 45 to 60-minute arrival delays as a result of those conditions. Reducing the capacity at the airports creates that need for delays to those of you that are going into that airport -- those two airports this morning.
St. Louis, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, plenty of clouds. It's that time of the year where we have -- well, the weather doesn't know whether it's supposed to be hot, cold. Lots of fog, poor visibility on the surface areas, 30 to 45-minute arrival delays and departure delays later on because we will see some thunderstorm activity limit flight routes into and out of those three major airports down in Texas and Missouri later. And then finally on the West Coast, San Francisco International will see a full day of 45 to 60-minute arrival delays. Poor visibility because of rain, fog, you name it, it's going to last until later on this evening.
I'll be back tomorrow morning with the latest 'Eye on the Sky.'
COSTELLO: Will do. Thank you -- Rally.
CAPARAS: Sure.
