CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: Let's check in with our 'Eye on the Sky.' Air Traffic Expert Rally Caparas from Travelocity Business is here.
So what's the word?

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Hi, Catherine.

Well the word is woo (ph) with Anderson was just saying. That's what I said yesterday, folks, when I went to Atlanta Hartsfield- Jackson Airport. It was absolutely mobbed yesterday morning about 8:00 a.m., things were packed. There were people everywhere. Police officers. They had the dogs out. They are going to be everywhere, folks, so give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport. You've been hearing it all day, 2.5 hours will be about right for you, if you are going to a major hub airport.

Now delays today. You can expect volume related delays, whether I refer to your airport or not in this list. But there will be some regular delays also. Here's how it's going to work for you.

Boston and Miami and all of the major airports in between up and down the East Coast, excellent flight conditions, on-time schedules all day and evening long. But keep in mind 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays will be typical because of the increased volume and the slowed down traffic on the airport surface areas. So don't be surprised if you get those moderate delays.

Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, some shorter delays, 30 to 45- minute arrival delays, gusting winds, mostly just a bumpy ride. Keep it buckled because it's going to be a very rocky ride at the low altitudes, climbing out and descending into and out of those airports.

Chicago O'Hare, they are delay free right now, but that's going to change. The increased volume, along with some wet runways, land and hold short procedures can't be used. They have runways that intersect with one another. An airplane lands, it has to hold short for the other operating runway to continue. They won't be able to do that today. They are going to decrease the volume into that airport. Expect 45, possibly even 60-minute arrival delays into O'Hare.

Denver, 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays throughout the day. Low clouds, some snow and departure flight de-icing the problem there.

And then on the West Coast, San Francisco will again see marine layer fog roll in. It will create 45-minute arrival delays until about noon Pacific Time, then burns off nicely for on-time schedules thereafter.

Not a bad day for such a busy day, but it's going to get worse tomorrow. I'll be back in the morning.

CALLAWAY: You know, all right, Rally, it's been like a good six months since we've been at this threat level, getting all the kinks worked out on the new security. It's going to...

CAPARAS: It's hard switching back and forth.

CALLAWAY: Right.

CAPARAS: There are going to be some slowdowns at security. I saw -- I must have seen 6,000 people in security at Hartsfield yesterday.

CALLAWAY: My goodness.

CAPARAS: So it's going to be a long wait for a lot of folks.

CALLAWAY: All right, Rally, thanks for being here with us this morning.

CAPARAS: You're welcome. See you tomorrow.
