All Eyes on Tiger Woods at British Open

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Practice rounds are underway at the British Open, and all eyes are on -- guess who -- Tiger Woods. He's going for the third leg of the Grand Slam.

Here's CNN sports correspondent Patrick Snell, in Scotland.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

PATRICK SNELL, CNN SPORTS CORRESPONDENT: Tiger Woods is refusing to let the pressure get to him. The world number one is virtually everyone's favorite to win the British Open here this week. The American is taking nothing for granted as he bids to become the first ever golfer to win all four majors in one season.

TIGER WOODS, ATHLETE: Any one of the four is a tough (UNINTELLIGIBLE). So you have to play well. I mean it's not easy. People make it like it's an easy thing to do, and it's not. You have go out there and have your game peak at the right time. And you need to get some great breaks. So far this year, I have got some really nice breaks, and I have capitalized on them and have played well on top of that.

Winning four in row I have done before. So I know how to handle it, and I'm going to go ahead and try to do it. If I don't win it this year, there's always next year. You can always try again. It is not something -- like my father always told me -- no one's been held hostage here. And you have understand that it's not life or death; you go out there, and it's game, and go play.

SNELL: Victory here in Scotland would give Woods his second British Open title and his ninth major overall. But to rewrite the history books, he must first conquer Muirfield and then go on to win the season's final major, the U.S. PGA.
