RON SAVAGE, WJBK REPORTER: Detroit's west side, family members tell police a man came through the front door around mid-morning. They couldn't believe what happened next.
KYLE SAUNDERS, UNCLE: My sister woke up screaming, telling me somebody was trying to rape my niece.
SAVAGE: The niece is a two-year old girl who was sleeping in her bed. The family saw her in the backyard with a man assaulting her.
SAUNDERS: And was trying to rape her. My sister caught him in the act.
SAVAGE: The two teenage cousins cased the man, caught up with him here at this Comerica Bank on Evergreen six blocks away. The teens chased the man inside the bank where they say they beat him unconscious.
SAUNDERS: Yes, this is all his blood.
SAVAGE: You caught up with him at the bank.
SAUNDERS: Yes he ran inside of a bank. When I got to -- when I went in the bank, he started swinging an object at me. I just rushed him and beat him, until I just felt -- until he was out cold.
SAVAGE: The two year old is safe, and the suspect is in his 30s, in serious condition at Grace Hospital. He could be charged with home invasion, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct.
He may have been with another man in his 30s. Police want to find him. The teens, cops say, performed the equivalent of a citizens arrest.
