KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: A small New England town is getting some national exposure -- literally. The men of Tamworth, New Hampshire, are tipping their hats to charity by posing for a new calendar.
Affiliate station WMUR's Kris Neilsen gets the bare facts.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
KRIS NEILSEN, WMUR REPORTER (voice-over): Tamworth's men in hats -- this calendar represents men in town and the hats they wear.
Dave Haskell is Mr. March. This is his first time posing like this.
DAVE HASKELL, MR. MARCH: I was supposed to be a man in a hat with a cat on my lap originally.
NEILSEN: When the cat couldn't make it, they improvised: He picked his hat from his collection of 300.
Other unique stories unfold on these pages. The calender revealed simply in hats and props were appropriate. George Cleveland, Grover Cleveland's grandson, said he didn't think twice about being Mr. November.
GEORGE CLEVELAND, MR. NOVEMBER: There is kind of a joyful innocence to the whole thing, which is really what it is -- it's kind of like, Ooh, look what I did! And I think that's what makes the calendar so much fun.
THAD BERRIER, MR. AUGUST: I just wanted to have August as my month -- that is my birthday month -- so I figured if I was in my birthday suit, I'd be August.
NEILSEN: Thad Berrier is Mr. August. His wife was Miss June in the "Women of Tamworth" calendar (ph), both organized by Margo Mallar and photographer Eddie Provanzano (ph). The idea in both calanders captured people of all ages and sizes comfortable with their bodies. The age range in these pages is five 5 months to the cover guy, who is 72.
MARGO MALLAR, CALENDER ORGANIZER: It is a fun and loving look at the people of our town, who do an awful lot of things: volunteering, you know, formal ways, and they volunteer in informal ways. And in a small town like this, people do work hard to take care of each other. NEILSEN (on camera): The calendars have only been out a week and already some stores have sold out and had to be resupplied. Last year's calendar raised $75,000 dollars for local charity. They are hoping this year's will be as successful.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Our hope is that we'll have, you know, another large sum of money that will go a long way specifically for kids' causes.
NEILSEN (voice-over): Now the question in this small town, who will be featured next year?
