MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Was there another plot out there to hijack a plane and slam it into a target in the U.S.? Another possible threat is being looked into by U.S. intelligence and law enforcement authorities.
Let's bring in CNN Justice Correspondent Kelly Wallace with -- Kelli Arena. See, you got my name wrong earlier...
KELLI ARENA, CNN JUSTICE CORRESPONDENT: You got me back, Miles.
O'BRIEN: ... and now I have got you back. Kelli Arena, nice to see you.
ARENA: It is good to see you, Miles. Well, sources tell CNN that the U.S. has in custody a former Sudanese air force pilot who may have been planning to hijack an airliner and fly it into a target in the U.S. Sources say he is being held in North Carolina.
Now, officials say that the intelligence gathered did not point to a specific target. Officials say that an internal communication went out on Wednesday from FBI headquarters to all FBI field offices and state and local law enforcement partners to be on the lookout for a Sudanese pilot who -- quote -- "may represent a possible threat."
Now, the pilot's name was provided, as well as other identifying information and a search began. Officials also say that federal law enforcement authorities have detained several Sudanese citizens as part of the government's -- quote -- "anti-terror investigation." Now, those individuals are being questioned at an undisclosed location, and it is not clear at this time if they are being held in relation to the pilot, or as part of a separate investigation -- Miles, back to you.
O'BRIEN: All right. Thank you very much. Kelli Arena, we appreciate that.
