KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Baghdad is blasting the U.S. for receiving a copy of its weapons declaration before any other member of the U.N. Security Council. The Iraqi foreign minister calls the move blackmail.
CNN's Nic Robertson is live in Baghdad with the latest -- Nic.
NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Kyra, very sharp criticism, saying that the acquisition of this declaration of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction against the charter of the U.N., against the mandate of the U.N., saying in particular that they believe the United States wanted to get the declaration early, the unedited copy, so that it could manipulate it, so it could use that as a basis for acts of aggression against Iraq.
Nevertheless, weapons inspections going on here, another 25 weapons inspectors arriving here late today. We have had five U.N. teams of weapons inspectors go out today across Iraq, visiting, we're told, 10 different sites.
Now, one team traveled five and a half hours across the western Iraqi desert almost to the border with Syria, to a site called Akashad (ph). This is a former uranium ore mining facility. It is a place where Iraq produced a refined uranium ore product called "yellow cake" back in the early, mid 1980s. That facility was destroyed during the Gulf War, a lot of bombing there.
But the inspectors having completed their work today. It's so far from Baghdad, however, they will stay there overnight tonight before returning tomorrow.
Also something new we haven't even on Iraqi Television for quite a while, President Saddam Hussein appearing with his sons, Uday Saddam Hussein and Kusay (ph) Saddam Hussein, appearing with the chairman of Iraq's Military Industrialization Committee. Now that committee has a lot of dealings with U.N. weapons inspectors here. They run a lot of sites that the U.N. weapons teams visit on a fairly regular basis. He was saying that the military and industrial corporation of Iraq would, indeed, he said, be a thorn in the eye of all the aggressors against Iraq. President Saddam Hussein urging the employees of that company to resist aggression against Iraq as well -- Kyra.
PHILLIPS: Nic Robertson, live from Baghdad. Nic Robertson, thank you.
