KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: An update now on the case of a pregnant woman reported missing Christmas Eve in northern California. Police have searched a marina, and they may have found something.
With the latest, CNN's Rusty Dornin in Modesto -- Rusty.
RUSTY DORNIN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Kyra, that something is a mysterious object that police are saying does resemble a body, but it backed out saying that it actually is a body. Now, divers discovered it late yesterday afternoon, using a side-scanning sonar system. But apparently, it was too late in the day and they could not do anything about it to try to bring the body up or to make any other determinations. They also can't go back today, because they claim that the bad weather, currents and also fatigue from the divers are preventing them from going into the Berkeley Marina until tomorrow.
Now, if you remember, the Berkeley Marina is where Scott Peterson, Laci Peterson's husband, said he went fishing that day when his wife disappeared. Police are very tight-lipped about Scott Peterson right now, but they do say there are no credible witnesses yet that have come forth to say that they actually did see Scott Peterson anywhere around that marina that day or to corroborate his whereabouts.
But amidst all the new speculation about Scott Peterson, Laci Peterson's family is standing firmly behind him.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BRENT ROCHA, MISSING WOMAN'S BROTHER: You know, my confidence is so high that Scott had nothing to do with it I'm not really that concerned. It's not bothering me too much. And it seems to me if it really was something significant, they'd be out there today to take care of it.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
DORNIN: Now, this morning the family did join a radio show that went to the volunteer center, and talked about their hope that Laci Peterson is still alive. They also passed out DNA kits to members of the community in case any of the missing person cases happens, unfortunately, to any of them.
Now, the police here do tell us that there will be no press conferences today, and they will not have a public meeting or press conference until there is a significant break in this case. That would be sometime possibly tomorrow or the next day -- Kyra. PHILLIPS: All right, we'll check in with you then, Rusty Dornin from Modesto.
