KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Well, stuck in the snow: that's the best way to describe your travelers today. Some 2100 East Coast flights are canceled because of the winter wallop.
CNN's air travel expert Rally Caparas of Travelocity is live on the phone with more. Rally what can you tell us?
RALLY CAPARAS, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Well Kyra, 2200 canceled flights tells you the whole story.
There are people all over the country, as a matter of fact, that are stranded trying to get into the northeast. But Boston-Logan Airport, as bad as it sounds up there, is still open, and it will likely stay open for another hour or so, and then you'll start to see some runway and airport closures during there -- later.
There were no p.m. hours and they're likely to go into a closure situation also, as you've seen -- actually we've seen that at LaGuardia. But LaGuardia is now -- has been announced closed until noon tomorrow, so if you're headed to LaGuardia's airport, forget about it. Either curl up in your sleeping bag, or find a way back to the house because you're not going in or out of LaGuardia today.
The heavy snow and the snow removal still require lots of work there. Philadelphia Airport is closed until about 6:00 p.m. or later, and I would say "or later" is a better bet. Even though the snow stopped, there's lots of snow on the ground there, and the wind and the de-icing is -- are going to cause problems once they do get airplanes back up and running into another -- that airport.
Reagan National -- they were the first ones to give in today. They're closed until tomorrow morning, proposing that 7:00 would be it, but if you've seen pictures lately of what that airport looks like right now, it's probably going to be sometime in the late morning hours before they get all that snow and ice off of that surface.
Washington-Dulles Airport, they're open and they've been open through all of this, two to three hour arrival delays with a few airplanes that are going into or out of that airport. The improving conditions this afternoon and evening should help decrease those delays for the minimal amount of traffic that will be moving into and out of that airport.
But the rest of the country looking pretty good for most of the day. But, if you're headed into the northeast, it could disrupt your -- your plans for the next couple of days. We don't expect the airline schedules to get back to normal until about Thursday or Friday at the earliest -- Kyra back to you.
PHILLIPS: All right. Rally Caparas from Travelocity, thank you so much.
