DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Want to get more back to that breaking news about Robert Blake. A judge in Los Angeles deciding the actor will stand trial in the murder of his wife. For more on that, let's go to Charles Feldman in Los Angeles -- Charles, hello.
CHARLES FELDMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, Daryn. Actually two headlines. Yes, Robert Blake is going to stand trial for the murder of his wife, but perhaps more significantly in the short run for Mr. Blake, a judge has granted him bail to the tune of $1.5 million plus electronic surveillance.
Now, he probably won't get out right away because the judge has said that the next judge in line, who is the judge that's going to handle the arraignment two weeks down the row is the one who is going to have to be notified. So it's not clear exactly when Blake will be set free. But, again, two headlines out of this. Robert Blake -- and, by the way, his co-defendant, Earle Caldwell, ordered to stand trial for the murder of Blake's wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, and perhaps in the short run, certainly in the short run most significant, the judge has granted a request for bail for Robert Blake to the tune of $1.5 million, plus electronic surveillance. And to anticipate a question, does he have the money for the bail? The answer: yes -- Daryn.
KAGAN: Isn't this the same judge where this question has come out before about Robert Blake getting out of jail while awaiting potential trial, and he's been turned down?
FELDMAN: Yes, but this judge has made it a point over the course of almost a year of saying that he was turning down the bail until he had a chance to hear the evidence in a preliminary hearing. The preliminary hearing was called off a number of times because, for the most part, Blake has had a change of attorneys. So now that the preliminary hearing is over and the judge has, as I said, decided that there is sufficient evidence for trial, he has now also granted Blake the right for bail -- Daryn.
KAGAN: And just real quickly, any date on the arraignment or trial to begin?
FELDMAN: Yes -- yes. The arraignment will be in two weeks, two weeks from today, and the trial date will be set then.
KAGAN: Very good. Charles Feldman in Los Angeles.
