WOLF BLITZER, ANCHOR: Only within the past few minutes, really, more explosions have blocked Baghdad, more explosions being heard. Sirens had gone off earlier. Now more explosions, presumably more U.S. bombs hitting selected targets in and around the Iraqi capital.
You're looking at a picture. Looks relatively quiet right now. Looks very quiet. But only within the past few minutes, eyewitnesses are now reporting more explosions in Baghdad.
We have been told by U.S. military officials the air campaign would continue. There would be no let-up. They are now suggesting, the U.S. military, we heard this at the Pentagon only a few minutes ago, that 50 percent of the targets now are the so-called elite Republican Guard targets. Plenty of them in and around Baghdad.
U.S. military officials saying they're going to continue to try to pound those Republican Guard units, especially as the U.S. and British forces begin to move to make their final move on the Iraqi capital. They're about 60 miles or so outside right now.
