JUDY WOODRUFF, ANCHOR: We want to tell you about another bit of action going on in Iraq. Waves of U.S. B-52 bombers have blasted a south-bound Iraqi convoy before it could get to the town of Najaf and the 3rd Squadron of the 7th Cavalry.
CNN's Walter Rodgers was talking with a 7th Cavalry sergeant about the air strikes when the situation got tense.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: ... a thousand vehicles.

RODGERS: When the B-52 started dropping those bombs, could you hear the bombs?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, sir.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Incoming.

RODGERS: We're hearing "incoming." We're not sure what it is. We see some stuff in the sky. We may have to break this off -- I think we're going to break off this live shot for the time being. We're not sure what we see up there -- good-bye.

We've got to dive for vehicles, we think. See you, bye.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

WOODRUFF: Well, as it turns out, those trails they saw up in the sky were not from enemy missiles or enemy planes, which is what they were worried about. We don't know what they were from, but it turns out they were not a threat.

And the cavalry troops pausing in their drive north, all went back to cleaning equipment and getting some much needed sleep.
