JUDY WOODRUFF, CNN ANCHOR: And now, we want to take you to a developing story on the terrorism front here in the United States. With the very latest, let's go to our Kelli Arena, our Justice correspondent -- Kelli.
KELLI ARENA, CNN JUSTICE DEPARTMENT CORRESPONDENT: Judy, a well- known Seattle Muslim activist by the name James Ujaama has pled guilty to providing goods and services to the Taliban. Original charges against Ujaama included providing material support to al Qaeda, but the al Qaeda reference was dropped from this plea agreement. It's just aiding the Taliban.
He'll serve two years in prison and then he'll serve another three years on supervised release. Now the authorities became aware of Ujaama when they were investigating a radical Muslim cleric named Abu Hamza (ph), who, investigators believe, has served as a recruiter for the al Qaeda terror network.
That investigation, we're told by sources, continues. And British authorities are trying at this time to debort Abu Hamza (ph). But right now, what the government is calling a victory in the war on terror. James Ujaama, who you see pictured here, a very well known Muslim activist based in Seattle, has pled guilty to providing arms and computers and cash to the Taliban.
WOODRUFF: And this after months of his having been in custody, this investigation been under way. All right. Kelli, thank you so much.
