MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: CNN National Correspondent Gary Tuchman has been talking to a woman who believes Eli is her son, Buddy Myers, specifically. We haven't been able to sort this out yet, Gary. Why is it taking so long?
GARY TUCHMAN, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Miles, this is a very confusing story, and we may not know anything for a few more weeks because DNA testing is taking place. But you are right. This man, Ricky Quick, was interviewed by the FBI today. He says he is the stepfather of a little boy who is in a foster home right now, a different boy than the one missing from this house where he lived with his great aunt, a boy who disappeared, Buddy, in October of 2000.

Here's the rub that we're dealing with right now. Authorities say they're investigating the possibility that Ricky Quick, the stepfather of the man -- the boy he says is Eli Quick, lived in the same town with Raven Myers. Raven Myers is the natural mother of the little boy who is missing. Now, one could unfurl, although no one's saying this, that perhaps these two knew each other, and there's more to this. However, we did talk within the last hour to Raven Myers, and she tells us she knows absolutely nothing about this man.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TUCHMAN: The authorities are telling us they're looking into the possibility that this Ricky Quick, who brought this boy to the hospital in Illinois, may have lived in Louisiana at the same time as you.

RAVEN MYERS, MOTHER OF BUDDY MYERS: Yes, I heard that and I've been told that, and I don't -- I've never met him. I've never seen this man except on TV last night.

TUCHMAN: Is there any possibility that perhaps you just don't remember seeing him or being with him?

MYERS: I would remember a face like that, and I don't remember him.

TUCHMAN: There is no possibility there's any connection between you and this man?

MYERS: No.

TUCHMAN: So, if this is your boy you're saying that the man would be a kidnapper. MYERS: Yes, he would be, because I don't know him. And I've taken lie detector tests and I have taken everything, and I have no idea what happened to him, and I wasn't involved in anything.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

TUCHMAN: Now, little 4-year-old Buddy Myers lived with his great aunt in this house when he disappeared on October 5, 2000. Raven Myers tells us that if this is her son -- and she believes it is her son, who is right now in a foster home in Chicago -- she wants to regain custody of him when he comes home. She says she will fight for it. She says she has another child, a one and a half year-old daughter who she currently has custody of. She tell us she works as a dancer at an adult club, and that she will fight for custody of this child who she believes has now been found -- Miles, back to you.

O'BRIEN: CNN's Gary Tuchman in North Carolina. Thank you very much.
