MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Now to a storm of a different kind. After a high school hazing incident near Chicago, there have been anonymous reports that some parents may have fanned the fire by providing beer.
Our Whitney Casey is in Northbrook, Illinois, and she's following this story for us. Hello, Whitney.

WHITNEY CASEY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Miles.

Well, in order for those authorities to possibly find those parents and follow up on some of those anonymous tips that they got earlier yesterday, they have been going around to various liquor stores here, because in the state of Illinois, when you rent one of these kegs, you have to give your I.D. and you have to sign a piece of paper and you have to return that keg.

So what they've been doing -- we've also been to those liquor stores. They told us that the police have been coming in and checking the list of people who have been renting these kegs, and they say they have had no leads thus far after the ones that they have had called in. So they are really moving slowly on this.

We also went to the site today, to the site where the powder puff game was held on Sunday. Police were also there again today, sifting through some of the remnants. I don't know if you can see the video of them there, but they were also looking in the garbage cans. They said they just really want to make sure they comb the area, just in case there is something they did not find.

In addition, they're looking through all those videotapes. If you could see in some of those powder puff videos, there may be 20 or 30 cameras that are there, in addition to those 200 kids that they have to interview. So it's quite an extensive process.

In terms of the school here, the principal we talked with said he has already taken disciplinary action. As the kids go into the weekend, they'll not be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports. We heard that some of the lacrosse team, according to some of the students here, may not be able to play.

Now, the principal has said all along he has had no jurisdiction here. And that's all he can do. No suspension has been made. But police say they hope that they can come up with some sort of criminal charges as early as Monday.

But Miles, that's where we stand here. They say over the weekend, they're just going to continue to pore over those videotapes.

O'BRIEN: All right. Thank you very much, Whitney Casey, joining us from Northbrook, Illinois.
