KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: The search for a serial killer. Police in south Louisiana issue a murder warrant now for a man they say killed five young women. They have released a photo and are asking for the public's help now.
Reporter Veronica Mosgrove has been following the case for CNN affiliate, WBRZ. She joins us now live from Baton Rouge. Veronica, what can you tell us?

VERONICA MOSGROVE, WBRZ CORRESPONDENT: Well, Kyra, after 10 month of intensive investigation, there is a huge break in the south Louisiana serial killer case. We have a face, we have a name, we have a suspect in the serial killer investigation.

His name is Derrick Todd Lee, if we could pill up his picture. He is a 34-year-old black male, He is about 6'1" tall and weighs about 210 pounds. His last known address is in St. Franksville, Louisiana, that's 40 miles north of Baton Rouge.

According to the arrest warrant, police got a DNA sample from Lee just a couple of weeks ago on May 5. The DNA sample has linked him to the murders of Gina Wilson Green, Charlotte Murray, Pam Kinamore, Trenitia Denay Cologne (ph), and Carrie Lynn Yoeder (ph). The task force members would not say much about the suspect, but here's what they did say.

(UNIDENTIFIED MALE): After approximately 10 months of a combined effort involving state, local, and federal agencies, the multiagency homicide task force, a suspect has been identified in the homicides of Gina Green, Charlotte Murray Pace, Pam Kinamore, Denay Cologne (ph), and Carrie Lynn Yoeder (ph). An arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of Derrick Todd Lee, date of birth, November 5, 1968.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

MOSGROVE: Of course, authorities say they won't release any more information until after the arrest is made. A nationwide search is underway for Derrick Todd Lee. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Let me give you a little bit of his extensive criminal background. In 1993, he was charged with aggravated battery and simple burglary. In 1999, he was charged with peeping Tom and simple burglary. In 2000, he was charged with aggravated burglary and attempted first-degree murder, and in 2001, he was charged with flight from capture and simple battery. If you know where this man is, Derrick Todd Lee, call the Serial Killer Task Force. There is a toll- free number at 1-866-389-3310. Kyra?

PHILLIPS: Veronica Mosgrove, thank you so much. We'll continue to follow the story right along with you.
