KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Now the latest on Andrew Luster. He's the Max Factor Cosmetics heir, who has been a fugitive since January when he fled his rape trial during a recess. The FBI is sending an agent to confirm whether the man captured by a bounty hunter in Mexico is, in fact, Andrew Luster.
Our Charles Feldman live from Los Angeles now with the latest.

Charles -- what have you found out?

CHARLES FELDMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi. How are you doing?

Well, it's still a bit of a confusing situation. All we really know is that a bounty hunter claims that he has now caught Andrew Luster; this in a bar in Guadalajara, Mexico. But it's still murky, because the FBI wants to make sure, positively, 100 percent, that the guy that was arrested by the bounty hunter is, in fact, the great- grandson of Max Factor.

You're looking at a picture, by the way, now of the bounty hunter in question, a guy by the name of Duane "Dog" -- that's D-O-G -- Chapman, "Dog" being his sort of moniker. He claims -- or his wife claims anyway -- he's based in Hawaii -- that he was on the trail of Andrew Luster and caught up with him last night. But there are now numerous reports that the bounty hunter himself may have been arrested by Mexican authorities because it is questionable about whether a U.S. citizen can affect an arrest in Mexico.

So, what happens now is this: Once the FBI gives a positive ID and determines that, in fact, Andrew Luster has been arrested, he will then be extradited to the United States. It could happen today, it could take a day or two.

And just a very quick recap of the case. He was, you may recall, convicted on charges of drugging and raping three women, and sentenced to 124 years behind bars. However, he was found guilty after he fled his trial. He was out on house arrest, disappeared. They have been looking for him ever since. The jury found him guilty anyway.

And so, if they can manage to get him back to California, he has a very long time to spend behind bars -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: Charles Feldman, we'll continue to check in with you and find out if indeed it actually is him that is there in Mexico. Thank you -- or it is he.
