KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Another suicide bombing in Israel. A Palestinian man detonated a bomb in a village grocery store, killing himself and the store owner. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.
Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers are dismantling illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Today, they met with some resistance.

CNN's Sheila MacVicar was there. She joins us now live -- Sheila.

SHEILA MACVICAR, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Kyra, it was a long, hot day on that hilltop. Israeli police and military, dozens of them, went to the site early this morning. This was a site that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has announced earlier in the week was one of 12 occupied outposts, settlement outposts that would have to be dismantled under the terms of the road map to peace.

Now, what happened when the police and the military got there, they were met by a great many young men, mostly from the settlement movement, who were determined to try to prevent them as best they could from taking down this sort of ramshackle structure, a couple of tents and some fairly poorly constructed buildings.

It took seven hours, Kyra, for the police and the military to be able to take down just two tents and one small enclosure that was used to house farm animals, an idea, Kyra, of how difficult a task it could be as long as the settlement movement does not accept the prime minister's decision, and how difficult a task may await in the future as more settlements are dismantled -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: Unbelievable, seven hours. Sheila MacVicar, we'll continue, of course, to follow up with you on this.
