KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Overseas now, conditions are being attached by Palestinian militants to a temporary cease-fire. CNN has learned that a three-month halt to attacks against Israel may be announced on Sunday, but it could also include some demands.
CNN's Sheila MacVicar is standing by in Gaza with more on this story -- Sheila.

SHEILA MACVICAR, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Kyra, the Palestinian militant factions, the five different factions, have been in discussions over the past number of days. Those discussions, we are told, by senior leaders of those factions continue now.

CNN was speaking just a few moments ago to the Hamas spiritual leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. He has told us that the discussions will continue. It is expected that perhaps some kind of a document may go to the Palestinian prime minister, Mahmoud Abbas, perhaps as early as Sunday. But we are being told that if there are any more -- quote/unquote -- "surprises" -- and, of course, here, that was a reference to any further Israeli military action, especially targeted assassinations -- that would mean more discussions.

Now, it was thought that perhaps given what happened here last night -- an Israeli incursion, they said they were going after people that they said were about to carry off an attack, it left four Palestinians dead -- that in fact that might further delay the cease- fire. We're told those discussions have carried on, and that they -- it does look at this point as though there will be a cease-fire and that it will most likely be announced on Sunday -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: All right, Sheila MacVicar, live from Gaza, thank you.
