KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Another case involving kids in trouble. The FBI is hoping to get an enhanced image of the man who molested a young girl in a West Virginia Target store. Let's go to CNN correspondent Mike Brooks. He's been tracking developments in this case. What do you know, Mike?
MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Kyra, just a few minutes ago, I spoke with the South Charleston Police Detective Robert Yeger (ph) who has been working on this case. He told me that the enhancements by NASA are done now and that an officer is bringing them back and they hope to have some additional video later on today.
Now besides just the enhancing of the suspect's face, they're also looking at some of the things he may have touched inside of the department, inside of the Target. As we know, he walked around stalking the girl for a short time before he actually approached her. And he did touch some things in the store, as we see in this video here. But they said that's leading to some additional leads.
They're also looking into the possibility of a link with a similar case last Friday in Ashland, Kentucky and another similar case in February, in Cleburne, Texas. Now they don't know right now if these three cases are tied.
We also heard just moments before we came on the air, Kyra, that the police detective is planning a news conference for 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. They wouldn't tell me exactly what they're going to announce. But it seemed they did have something important to get out to the media. So they are going to have a press conference at 3:00 p.m. -- Kyra.
PHILLIPS: You were former FBI. When you get these pictures, these images, how does it work? Is it put into a system and then these images might be connected in a sex offender registry? How does it work?
BROOKS: Well on these particular ones, they're trying to compare the video store to the Wal-Mart store in Ashland, Kentucky to the case in the Target store in South Charleston. They're going to look different features.
Now, they (UNINTELLIGIBLE) to the FBI lab but in this case, they sent it to NASA who apparently had some excellent technology in enhancing the face but also enhancing any other distinguishing marks on the video. I've worked a case one time where we were able to enhance the video face -- the face of a person in the video, able to clean it up a little bit. And it works successfully in a prosecution.
Now in this particular case, we don't know what exactly they have to announce. We don't know if it's because the enhancements that NASA has but everyone's going to be anxious to find out what they have to say at 3:00 -- Kyra.
PHILLIPS: Mike Brooks, thank you.
