KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Major developments on a story of concern for every parent. As we told you, authorities say they've arrested a suspect connected to an attack on a little girl at a West Virginia Target store.
CNN security correspondent Mike Brooks here with what he knows. You get new information by the minute.

MIKE BROOKS, CNN SECURITY CORRESPONDENT: I'm telling you, this thing has been coming in by the minute today, Kyra. But what we have found out is that they have made an arrest and they're charging him with kidnapping and first degree sexual assault.

And they've arrested Allen Coates of Kentucky. He's a white male who lives in a small town in Kentucky. He's being held right now in Lexington, Kentucky awaiting extradition back to South Charleston, West Virginia.

Now he was identified by pictures that they showed the victim. These were pictures that were enhanced by NASA. They played a great role in enhancing the video and also in assisting in other evidence.

So they're hopefully going to charged -- I spoke with a captain from the Ashland, Kentucky Police Department just moments ago and they hope to file charges against him in the Friday assault of a 9-year-old girl in a Wal-Mart store in Ashland, Kentucky.

They're also looking to see if the case in Cleburne, Texas back in February is also possibly linked to Coates. But that still remains unknown right now.

But the charges are against this guy right now and he's waiting extradition back from Kentucky to West Virginia.

PHILLIPS: Was he in this sex offender registry that we talked about a few days ago?

PHILLIPS: Just looked him up in Kentucky and also in West Virginia and he is not in their registry. They did not say whether he has a criminal history of offenses like this or not, but we hope to find out a little bit sooner.

They also say that they're going to have an arrest photo of him a little bit later. So after they get the arrest photo out, if there are other cases open like this, after people see this person's picture, they say he possibly could be linked with others, but they don't know right now.

PHILLIPS: Do we know what he does, if he has existing family?

BROOKS: We don't know any of that as of right now, still early. the Ashland, Kentucky Police are still conducting their investigation working with the detectives from South Charleston. And they hope to have more information for us a little bit later on today.

PHILLIPS: All right, bring it to us. Mike Brooks thanks.

BROOKS: Will do.
