MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: British Police release new video showing the last moments of a skydiver's life before he plunges to his death. They are hoping it will yield clues in the Steven Hilder murder case we've told you about. Reporter Dan Rivers with ITN has the details.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
DAN RIVERS, CNN INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: This previously unseen footage shows the final moments of Steven Hilder's life. Here on the right, he practices his sky diving maneuvers with friends just minutes before his fatal jump. The video's been released to coincide with a TV reconstruction of his murder to be shown tonight. The police hoping these images will yield fresh leads.
This shows the group on the bus enroute to the airfield. Steven apparently in high spirits. And this is him enjoying a fancy dress party the night before. Wearing a blonde wig, singing and dancing with other skydivers. The police think someone here may hold the key to the mystery of why his parachute cords were deliberately cut, leaving him to fall 13,000 feet to his death.
DET. SUPT. COLING ANDREW, HUMBERSIDE POLICE: We looking for anybody with information to come forward and speak to us, but also that we believe that the person who killed Stephen may have told another person, or indeed, may have acted strangely. So we're looking for that person to come forward and talk to us.
RIVERS: Stephen, an army cadet, was a passionate skydiver. Earlier this month his parents paid this moving tribute.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Steve lit up our lives with his enthusiasm, energy, humor, and physical presence.
RIVERS: Stephen Hilder died doing something he loved. The police now hope their fresh appeal to the skydiving community will prompt someone to come forward. Dan Rivers, ITV news.
