KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Now we turn to the ABCs of the California gubernatorial recall. First lesson, forget your ABCs. Second lesson, study that ballot before you get into the voting booth. Third lesson, pay close attention to CNN's Bob Franken live from Los Angeles.
Hi, Bob.

BOB FRANKEN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: That last one's a little shaky, but the other ones do make sense. It will be a trivia question for days and years to come -- what are the first three letters of the alphabet in California? and they are r, w, q. So that will be something that will be asked in Trivia Pursuit games for a long time. That of course being the new alphabet, the one that was created by this lottery drawing yesterday, so that nobody gets an unfair advantage by going with the established alphabet. It gets more complicated, because depending on which county, they rotate. That is what is going to be a part of the election here. A little bit confused, a little convoluted? Totally in keeping with this entire elections.

Of course, it is based on the recall effort to decide whether to unseat Governor Gray Davis. If the vote is yes on that, then the people will be choosing from probably well over 150 candidates, who the replacement would be. And, of course, the one who has gotten most of the attention is Arnold Schwarzenegger, who up until now has made millions upon millions in show business. Now he plans to spend quite a few of those millions trying to get himself elected in case Gray Davis is recalled -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: All right, our Bob Franken live from L.A. We'll keep checking in with you.
