JOHN KING, CNN ANCHOR: Planes, trains, and automobiles ground to a halt because of the blackout, stranding millions of travelers not only here in the United States and Canada, but around the world. This scene was played out in New York's LaGuardia Airport and other terminals nationwide effected by flight cancellations and diversions. An air traffic specialist says things won't be much better today.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RAILY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST: The airlines are going to be playing catch-up all day long as they continue to work diligently to reposition the flight crews and the airplanes that were effected by the recent events. Lots of flights diverted, meaning planes and crews were put out of position, which doesn't bode well for today's flight schedules.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

KING: People were also stuck in traffic jams and at rail stations. And I bet this is no surprise, they had plenty to say about it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There are no subways. There are no buses. There are no streetcars. There is nothing.

Until further notice, we can't do nothing. If you want to use the phone, you have to go outside, because there's no phones here. Unfortunately, we're all stuck together. So let's all be happy.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yesterday, my original flight was at 4:30, and then I got switched to a later flight at 9:00, and then I have been in the airport ever since.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I had a flight to LaGuardia at 6:30 last night, and I'm still here. I've got -- the earliest flight I can get out, reserved, was 1:30 in the afternoon. So hopefully I can get something earlier this morning.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We were flying from Bombay from India, and we were going on to JFK New York. And when we came here, like we came outside the airport and we found that there is a power outage in the eastern United States and in Canada and all flights were canceled. So we have to find out what's going to be now.
