KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: New developments in the prison killing of ex-priest Joseph Geoghan. Our Jason Carroll is following that story from New York -- Jason.
JASON CARROLL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Kyra, investigators are looking into the death of John Geoghan saying another inmate may have offered money to the prisoner who confessed killing the defrocked priest.

Joseph Druce told prosecutors he beat and then strangled Geoghan on Saturday. Investigators now say Robert Assan (ph), an inmate at the facility, says Druce says there was another inmate who offered Druce money to kill Geoghan.

Assan was interviewed today by an attorney for Massachusetts Correctional Legal Services. That's an advocacy organization for prisoners. The Worchester district attorney says Druce appears to be the single defendant, but he also says as to whether or not anyone else was involved, they will be looking into that.

State officials said Monday they would conduct two separate investigations into Geoghan's death. Geoghan's murder raised questions about why the former priest who was in protective custody at his own request, was housed just a few cells away from Druce who was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for killing a gay man -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: Jason Carroll, thank you.
