KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: And that's pretty much the theme of a running gag on the Letterman show about which we're trying to be good sports.

DAVID LETTERMAN, HOST, "LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN: We don't mean to be picking on the CNN. But they have a difficult task. They are on the air 24 hours a day. We're here one hour a day and we make 1000 mistakes in one hour. So you can imagine the number of mistakes that an operation that's on the air for 24 hours a day they might make.
PAUL SCHAFFER, "LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN": Wow.
LETTERMAN: As a result, there are many, many more for us to select and choose and make fun of.
SCHAFFER: Make fun of, yes.
LETTERMAN: That's right.
But believe me, we are not above making mistakes ourselves.
SCHAFFER: Of course not.
LETTERMAN: It happens all the time.
It's time now for the CNN -- "CNN Technical Mishap of the Night."
SCHAFFER: Oh, good.
LETTERMAN: Watch.

PHILLIPS: CNN's Julie Cevene is covering it all from Los Angeles. She joins us now with more.
Hi, Julie.
We're having some technical problems.

SCHAFFER: All day long. All night long.
