KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Now, it's the day many young girls dream about, their wedding day. But an 18-year-old Connecticut woman spent at least part of her wedding night in police custody after a reception that made us say "what the?"
Reporter Tricia Taskey with our affiliate WTNH has more on a bride run amok.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
TRICIA TASKEY, WTNH CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): The reception seemed to be going fine, looking at this home video. But that changed by the end of the celebration.
Managers at the Mill on the River in South Windsor say wedding guests got rowdy and tried to help themselves to drinks behind the bar.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Bridesmaid, she came up here because she saw we had cameras and monitors now in the office and she came up here, went behind the bar and she kind gave us the finger upright and she danced around 360 degrees.
TASKEY: Managers say when they asked the guests to leave, that's when the bride got out of control. Sayman (ph) admits she got out of hand, but with reason. She says the restaurant staff closed the bar and ended the reception 45 minutes early.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They were just very, very rude. They came in and they were, like, you have to get out now.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, it wasn't like that. You have to get the hell out right now. I want everyone to get the hell out of here right now. The restaurant said that.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Then they started taking plates out from underneath my guests.
(CROSSTALK)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They didn't come up to us, to our guests.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They came to our guests and told them they had to leave. We didn't know what was going on until it was too late. TASKEY: Then trouble spilled into the parking lot. The cops showed up and they found Sayman walking on the streets in her wedding dress. They say they tried to reason with her, but couldn't, so they arrested her.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
PHILLIPS: Well, a postscript here. The bride was in court today. She told a judge that her behavior, including an attempt to bite a police officer, was disgraceful and offered her apologies. The judge let her off with a $90 fine. Looks like her spouse may be in for a life sentence.
