JUDY WOODRUFF, CNN ANCHOR: And as the big name candidates head into the final weekend of campaigning, the lesser known recall hopefuls are still working for every vote they can muster.
CNN's Thelma Gutierrez introduces to a candidate determined to capture the attention of younger voters.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
BROOKE ADAMS (I), CALIFORNIA GOV. CANDIDATE: My name is Brooke Adams, I'm 25 years old. I'm running as an independent for governor.
THELMA GUTIERREZ, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): She's one of the youngest candidates in the race.
ADAMS: Anyone want information? I'm running for governor.
GUTIERREZ: But Brooke Adams says she's running a serious campaign, traveling hundreds of miles across the state.
ADAMS: I've been up to San Jose, San Francisco, central California, Bakersfield, Modesto.
GUTIERREZ: To spread her message.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What are your standpoints on abortion?
ADAMS: I am pro-choice.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Homosexual marriage?
ADAMS: I am for homosexual marriage.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Illegal aliens getting driver's licenses.
ADAMS: It's illegal. What's the question? It's absurd.
GUTIERREZ: Adams is the daughter of a high school teacher and a superior court judge. The one-time homecoming queen is now the cover girl of the California recall calendar.
ADAMS: Thank you.
GUTIERREZ: And the subject of an independent documentary about the recall. ADAMS: I was born and raised in California. And I'm interested in seeing opportunity in my future and that of my children's.
GUTIERREZ: And so she says of her political inspiration.
ADAMS: Do you guys want some information on the election? Anyone want to check out my views on the Web site?
GUTIERREZ: She's learned campaigning isn't always easy.
ADAMS: Trying to represent the youth, the disinterested youth.
GUTIERREZ: Especially when it seems no one is listening.
ADAMS: People become easily deterred by no. And I think almost everything we did, we had about 10 no's preceding the one yes.
GUTIERREZ: It's the yes...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: OK. Thank you.
ADAMS: Thank you.
GUTIERREZ: That positive response in voters that have supporters betting one day Adams will take her place in California politics.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Good point. Great...
ADAMS: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you.
ADAMS: Yes. Nice to meet you.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you.
