HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Champagne wishes and caviar dreams became a reality onboard the Concorde. CNN's Richard Quest was among the passengers on the historic trip. He join us now live from Heathrow Airport in London.
Richard, it's all over.

RICHARD QUEST, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Oh, but the memories, the memory go on. Was it the smoked salmon, the mixed grill, the lobster, or the wild mushroom omelet with truffles? This was the menu from today's flight, and an extraordinary day's events it was.

As you can see, 24th October, 2003, and it has been signed by many of the celebrities who were on our flight from New York, Joan Collins, David Frost, Lord Marshall, the chairman of British Airways.

What we experienced today, Heidi, was one of those days that, frankly, in your career, you don't get too many of. You'll remember them, or at least I will, forever. The party atmosphere as we roared across the atlantic at twice the speed of sound, Mach 2, 1,350 miles per hour, at the very edge of space.

Now, why is it important? After all, all right, it's a plane that was for the rich and famous. Heidi, this was important, because today, we went into history. There's nothing like it of its kind in development. And we probably won't see a Concorde or something similar for at least -- oh, if ever, in our lifetimes. And that was reflected with the tens of thousands of people, not only at Kennedy Airport, but at London's Heathrow.

And one thought to bring you with, the sign, the British Airways is taken out in New York that makes it clear -- she turned a pond from an ocean. That's what the Concorde did for the Atlantic.

COLLINS: And we are looking at the pilot, as you can see, on the video there next to Richard Quest. Richard, thanks so thanks very much.
