KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: A reunion in Hawaii. A mother from Florida expects to be reunited with her daughter that she's not seen in five years. The girl's father is now in jail. CNN's Susan Candiotti covering that story from Florida -- Susan.
SUSAN CANDIOTTI, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Kyra. The power of these cards -- we all get them in the mail and you often wonder do they do any good?
Well, in this case, apparently they did. These "Have You Seen Me?" missing child postcards. In this case, a woman in Hawaii received one in the mail and immediately recognized, according to police, the photograph of a little girl and her father and called police all the way in Dell Ray Beach, Florida.
Well, that led to an overjoyed mother, from Florida, boarding a plane today, heading to the Pacific Islands to see her father for the first time in five year. Elke Hoercher, by tonight, expects to be reunited with now 11-year-old daughter Angeline (ph).
Police say Angeline had been giving a new identity by her father who allegedly kidnapped her. The couple was divorced, the alleged snatch happened during a month-long visit with her father back in 1998. (UNINTELLIGIBLE) how the Angeline looks at age 11, and how she looked at age 5.
This morning, I spoke with her mother, about her long awaited reunion.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ELKE HOERCHER, MISSING GIRL'S MOTHER: I'm very nervous. I'm overwhelmed. I'm extremely happy. It's everything at the same time.
CANDIOTTI: You must have imagined what the first moment is going to be like when you see your daughter.
HOERCHER: Well, I imagine -- in five years since she's gone, I imagine it over and over again. It's different every time. I talked to her on the phone and it sounded really good. She recognized me right away. And -- so I'm very hopeful this will be a very good meeting.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CANDIOTTI: Angeline's father is John Michael Bryan. Police say he went by an alias in Hawaii, John Lee. He's wanted on state and federal arrest warrants. Arrangements are under way to extradite him to Florida.
For one mother and one daughter, there is only one thought this day, in the mother's words, it's a miracle. Kyra, back to you.
PHILLIPS: Does definitely seem like a miracle. Susan, thank you.
