MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: If you're about to head to the airport, take a moment to listen up.
CNN's Rally Caparas is here with the latest on airport delays all around the country.

Hello, Rally.

RALLY CAPARAS, TRAVELOCITY BUSINESS: Hello, Miles.

Well, we're seeing it pick up just a little bit more, ever so slightly; 7,100 airplanes are now in the skies over the United States, according to FlightExplorer.com. They show real-time live air traffic as things are happening. That's a lot of airplanes. It's the most I've seen in a couple of years in the air at the same time.

Delays, however, are negligible. Such perfect conditions, I've not seen, especially during a time of the year like this. It's supposed to be winter. We should have problems, but we don't. And that's great news for a whole bunch of reasons.

From Boston down to Miami, great conditions, on-time flight schedules. The peak period is starting right now. We should start to see a few delays creep into the system. And we are. New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago O'Hare, you're likely going to see 45-minute arrival and departure delays as this congestion really hits you between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Minneapolis-St. Paul, hot off the presses, the FAA just issued a ground-delay program. You are seeing 30- to 45-minute arrival delays for the rest of the evening, if you're headed to that location. Chicago, 45- to 60-minute arrival delays, as we said. And then Houston's George Bush, there will be 30- to 45-minute arrival and departure delays as a result of some thunderstorm activity that's going to fire up here in the next couple of hours, limiting flight routes into and out of the region down there in the Gulf Coast of Texas.

But the Western half of the United States, no problems whatsoever, nothing that we see.

I'll be back throughout the next few hours updating you. Miles, talk to you soon.

O'BRIEN: All right, Rally Caparas, thanks very much.
