MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Lee Malvo is slow at processing information. That's today's testimony from a defense psychologist in the murder trial of the D.C. sniper suspect. Earlier today, the defense entered some of Malvo's jailhouse sketches into evidence.
For more on all this, we turn to CNN's Jeanne Meserve.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
JEANNE MESERVE, CNN HOMELAND SECURITY CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Racial injustice, hatred, violence, the themes of more than 100 drawings and notes by Lee Malvo done in his jail cell. In one addressed to "fascist police," Malvo writes, "For slavery, colonization, destabilization, Willie Lynch, assimilation and our continued genocide, there is no forgiveness. None of you are innocent. Mark my word, you will kill me today, but you will pay dearly tomorrow."
Another is a sketch of the White House in the crosshairs of a rifle with two missiles aimed towards it. "Welcome to the new war. You are not safe anywhere at any time," it reads. "September 11, we will ensure will look like a picnic to you. You would have wished it was my little sniper's attacks actions. You can count on the above statement with every drop of my blood, being and soul."
In another, he writes, "Wanted: Horan dead," a reference to the prosecutor in this case, Robert Horan. There are pictures of Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden labeled "Servant of Allah," Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi and Louis Farrakhan, head of the Nation of Islam, as well as depictions of John Muhammad, Muhammad and Malvo together, and one of Malvo by himself shielding his face with the words, "face of failure."
(on camera): Defense attorneys say the drawings and notes reflect how John Muhammad indoctrinated Lee Malvo and that Malvo's self-destruction continued, even after he and Muhammad were separated after their arrests.
Jeanne Meserve, CNN, Chesapeake, Virginia.
