KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: We're also getting an up-close look at the troops who flushed Saddam out of that spider hole. The so- called Raider Brigade was still flush with victory when the camcorders came out and the footage you're about to see was shot.
CNN's Alphonso Van Marsh shows and tells in Saddam's hometown of Tikrit -- Alphonso.

ALPHONSO VAN MARSH, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi there. Yes, that's true. There's still a lot of buzz here, even though the former Iraqi leader was taken into U.S. custody a couple of days ago. Troops here at the 4th Infantry Division, with the Raider Brigade and Raider base here in Tikrit, are still talking about the weekend's activity.

Now, of course, CNN brought you over the weekend exclusive pictures of U.S. service members returning from that historic raid at about 11:30 local time. In those pictures, we saw the military leadership giving kind of a pep talk to his subordinates. We also saw soldiers, as you mentioned, pulling out their own cameras.

Now, we caught those images with my night scope camera up here from the rooftop live location CNN has been maintaining for a couple of weeks now -- more than a couple of weeks now. And today, yet, first again on CNN, we got new images actually taken from the service members themselves.

Let's take a listen at what was happening at that moment when a staff sergeant filmed his cohorts coming on in.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Smile back there. Hooah.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hooah.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hooah.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VAN MARSH: Now, you heard that "hooah." That's a U.S. Army term that could mean a number of things in a number of contexts. Most of the time it means yes or yes, sir, or all right. In this context, it certainly means yes, a raid gone well, a job well done.

Now, some of those troops looked a little bit dazed or confused because they had just gotten back from that raid. And their commanding officer -- excuse me, their commanding officer, Colonel James Hickey (ph), had just confirmed to them that they indeed had taken Saddam Hussein into custody -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: Pretty incredible stuff. Alphonso Van Marsh working it there from the rooftops with his own camera. Thank you so much.
