"Lord of the Rings" King of the Box Office

MILES O'BRIEN, ANCHOR: This time of year a lot of you are heading to the mega-multiplex to nosh on some popcorn, take in a good flick.
So what are you watching? Zach Irwin has some answers.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

BERNARD HILL, AS THEODEN: Less than half of what I'd hoped for.

VIGGO MORTENSEN, AS ARAGORN: Six-thousand are not enough to break the lines or Mordor.

HILL: More will come.

ZAHN IRWIN, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" remains the king of the box office, grossing over $51 million this weekend.

In only its second week in theaters, the movie has made over $224 million domestically, and it has grossed close to half a billion dollars globally.

STEVE MARTIN, AS TOM BAKER: Get him!

IRWIN: "Cheaper by the Dozen" made the most money among the new releases this weekend. The comedy starring Steve Martin grossed over $28 million.

NICOLE KIDMAN, AS ADA MONROE: I found you this book to take with you, William Botrand (ph), and this. I'm not smiling in it.

IRWIN: The civil war drama, "Cold Mountain" opened the weekend in third place. The film makes its debut by taking in $14.5 million.

"Something's Got to Give and "Paycheck" round out this weekend's top five.
