KYRA PHILLIPS, ANCHOR: now this next story involves a dig surprise for a little girl who's been missing her father something terribly. He's been in Afghanistan and still was, or so she thought.
Boyd Huppert of affiliate KARE has that.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

LINDA WIEBOLD, FIRST GRADE TEACHER: She is so proud of her dad.

ANGEL POTTS, DAUGHTER OF SOLDIER: That's where my dad is. That's where we are.

BOYD HUPPERT, KARE-11 NEWS CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Staff Sergeant Jeff Potts, an Army reservist from Maple Grove...

A. POTTS: He's across the ocean.

HUPPERT: ... has been in Afghanistan since last summer.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I've been praying for her.

HUPPERT: And Angel's classmates have been right beside her.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I hug her sometimes when she's sad.

HUPPERT: They drew pictures. They sent crayons, candy and books for Angel's dad to give to Afghani children.

WIEBOLD: One day we did a group hug with all the children gathering around. And it was just awesome.

STAFF SGT. JEFF POTTS, U.S. ARMY: Hi.

HUPPERT: After sharing so much of Angel's sadness...

A. POTTS: Daddy!

HUPPERT: It only seemed fitting they share in Angel's big surprise.

J. POTTS: Were you good?

HUPPERT: Jeff was cleared to come home just last Friday.

AMY POTTS, ANGEL'S MOM: I thought having it a surprise would just be so wonderful for her. WIEBOLD: I kind of think she needs the whole day off. Don't you?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She hasn't seen her dad that long.

HUPPERT: Mission accomplished. Satisfy Sergeant Jeff Potts. Mission accomplished, Mrs. Wiebold's first grade class at Redeemer Lutheran School.

Boyd Huppert, KARE-11 News, Wisanda (ph).

(END VIDEOTAPE)
