DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We have breaking news now concerning an Amber Alert that has been issued in Miramar, Florida. It concerns two little girls.
And our Susan Candiotti has more on the story for us now -- Susan.
SUSAN CANDIOTTI, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Daryn.
The Amber Alert was put out early this morning, actually, and you can see the signs put up on the turnpike and on the expressways as you drove into work. Police looking for two children, ages 3 and 2. A little girl 3, a little boy 2. Allegedly kidnapped, or abducted under some very strange circumstances. According to the police, this happened in Myanmar, Florida, which is in Broward County, Florida.
According to authorities, the mother and someone who might be her ex-husband drove a car, their car, into the rear sliding door of a home, the grandmother's house who had been taking care of the children. She had had custody, the grandparents did, since January. The mother allegedly drove her car into the house. The man, according to authorities, rushed out of the car, grabbed the children, and they have been on the run since. Police say they believe that the children are in extreme danger, because they say, among other reasons, the mother has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. And so authorities are keeping an eye out for them.
Reportedly the mother, her name is Nora Montano is stationed at Ft. Houston, Texas, is said to be in the army. So we're trying to learn more information about that as well.
Also, allegedly her husband may have been wearing camouflage. The car they're looking for is described as a dark blue Infiniti model. Again, Amber Alert signs have been issued throughout the state of Florida.
Back to you, Daryn.
KAGAN: So, Susan, who was caring for these children if they weren't in the custody of their mother?
CANDIOTTI: The grandparents had custody of them since January, and then this happened. So it's all very strange circumstances, and certainly could be very scary ones for the children certainly.
KAGAN: Absolutely. Good to get to get that information out.
Susan Candiotti in Florida, thank you for that.
