DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: News of the release of the 24 crew members in Hainan Island is breaking of course on television around the world, but also on the Internet, both here in the U.S., and also in China. And to give us a glimpse of that is our Allison Tom.

Hi, Al.

ALLISON TOM, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, Daryn.

That's right. We actually went to cnn.com, our Web site, of course. We've got a lot of the details as to what's happening. You can see a lot of the messages that people are sending us in.

KAGAN: And people do have opinions about the story.

TOM: People certainly have opinions about this story. Most people, by and large since the news has broke this morning, are saying that they're pleased. They're praising the move that China has done in regards to releasing the crew in China there. So they are, of course, messaging in. A lot of people have some feedback, some controversial, some not.

We also checked a couple other different Web sites, too. "China Daily" is one. They have a message board as well. We're having some trouble actually getting on to a few of these message boards. Many of them are very busy right now.

KAGAN: They're jammed. "China Daily" comes out of where?

TOM: Out of China.

And then peopledaily.com, this is another one, also based -- it's a government site out of China. They have Web site here with various languages, so you can see a lot of the activity. But, as you can see, we are getting an error message here.

KAGAN: That's also because of traffic?

TOM: Likely because of traffic. About an hour or two ago we were watching the boards closely. A lot of people feeding in their information here. But as we just tried to pull it up for you a little while ago, it's pretty jammed. So we're having a lot of difficulty getting on to these sites. KAGAN: But if people do -- just to remind them, we're talking about chinadaily.com and also peopledaily.com, which you can see in English our Chinese.

TOM: Correct. And some of them offer French, Spanish, other languages as well. So a good place to go for a lot of the activity, a lot of the people that are responding around the world, just in regard to this particular news story.

And keep in mind, too, we have a lot of in-depth specials on our cnn.com Web site, and we have some time lines detailing a lot of the historical background between China and the United States since the 1950s. We also have the recent events detailing since the past couple of weeks.

So you can find a lot of this information very handy and useful here. And we do have both Bush's response, as well as the Chinese government's response, to the letters this morning that were -- and the press conferences as well.

KAGAN: Very good. Allison Tom, thanks for giving us a tour of the Internet sites.

TOM: You're welcome.
