THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: We go up now from New York to Washington, DC ad our Jeanne Meserve, who is standing by in our bureau with some news about the delegates with the Supreme Court making a decision -- Jeanne?.
JEANNE MESERVE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: That's right, the Supreme Court issuing opinions today, one of them with potentially profound political implications. In a case involving the state of North Carolina, the court has ruled five to four that race cannot be the sole factor in redistricting.
This was reversal of lower court ruling. This is potentially profound because of course of the 2000 census, which has just been just completed which will lead to redistricting. So once again, the Supreme Court ruling that race cannot be the sole factor in redistricting.
CNN's Charles Bierbauer is at the court. He will join with more information as it becomes available. Leon, back to you.
HARRIS: Thanks, Jeanne. We will talk with you later on all of that.
