DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Our viewers out there and I think people here in the newsroom are still talking about some pictures we had in the last hour...

LEON HARRIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Oh, don't. Don't. We're not going there again.

KAGAN: Well, I didn't want to talk about your 40th birthday anymore, but I guess we have someone on the phone who did. Caller, are you with us?

LORRENE MADDOX, MOTHER OF LEON HARRIS: Yes.

KAGAN: And who would this be?

MADDOX: Leon's mother.

KAGAN: Oh, it's your mother.

HARRIS: Oh, my god. Oh, mom. Lordy, lordy. Hi, mom.

MADDOX: Hi. Happy birthday honey.

HARRIS: Thank you, mom, and, you know...

MADDOX: You look so wonderful on television at three months.

HARRIS: You know, why did you send them those pictures? Why did you do that to me? I thought you loved me.

MADDOX: They capture the essence of Leon Harris.

HARRIS: You know what? I love you...

MADDOX: Look at that. Look at that.

HARRIS: Oh, see, here we go again. You know, it, mom, I love you, but you may not want to open your Mother's Day gift.

KAGAN: Well, that's Lorrene Maddox. She's in Akron, Ohio. That is Leon's mom and she has been the coconspirator with your wife Dawn (ph) and me, the three women in your lives have been, are working to make some little 40th birthday surprises for you.

HARRIS: I tried to get this day off so hard.

KAGAN: We arranged that, too, so that you couldn't do that.

HARRIS: I tried so hard. With friends like these...

KAGAN: Absolutely.

MADDOX: Oh...

HARRIS: Mom...

MADDOX: But we love you and we're so proud of you and happy birthday.

HARRIS: Thank you very much. You could have just sent me a card. You could have just sent me a check and a pie, but that's OK.

KAGAN: Mrs. Maddox, thanks for calling in.

HARRIS: I love you anyway.

MADDOX: You're welcome.

KAGAN: It wouldn't have been complete without you.

HARRIS: I'm calling you later.

KAGAN: Yes. She told us some stories about you, too, that we can't even talk about on the air.

HARRIS: You'd better not.

KAGAN: And we will do that.
