MICHAEL OKWU, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, everyone. I'm Michael Okwu in New York.
A funeral service for Perry Como is scheduled for Friday in Palm Beach, Florida, just one day before he would have turned 89. The crooner known for his smooth voice and cardigan sweaters died Saturday at his Florida home. He had suffered from Alzheimer's. Como's many hits during the 1940s and '50s included "Catch A Falling Star," "Poppa Loves Mambo" and "Till the End of Time." He later became a TV tradition with his homespun Christmas specials.
Turning to the weekend box office, once again "The Mummy" had it all wrapped up. Movie audiences wanted their mummy this Mother's Day weekend. "The Mummy Returns" held onto the top spot at the box office, after its record breaking debut last week. The computer effects adventure starring Brendan Fraser and featuring the professional wrestler The Rock, smacked down the competition with an estimated $32.2 million. That's more than the next four movies took in combined.
The rock 'n' roll fairy tale "A Knight's Tale" rode in on a high horse and rocked movie houses to the tune of 17 million bucks. The Medieval adventure starring Heath Ledger debuted in second place.
"Bridget Jones's Diary" stayed locked up in third place again this weekend. The romantic comedy starring Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant collected another $4.5 million this weekend.
And it was a fourth place tie at the box office finish line. The high octane action flick "Driven" starring Sylvester Stallone and "Along Came A Spider," the serial killer thriller starring Morgan Freeman, both brought in an estimated three million bucks.
You might just be finishing your breakfast, but we're going to be talking about "The Man Who Came To Dinner" in the next hour. The star of that hit Broadway show, Jean Smart, will be here live fresh off her Tony nomination to tell us all about the show so check back with us at 11:35 A.M. for our next "Showbiz Today Reports." I'm checking out of here.
