DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Showbiz news with Laurin Sydney -- hi Laurin.
LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Morning.
LAURIN SYDNEY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning everybody and good morning to you. The TV season is coming to an end, but the new one for next fall is already getting underway. The broadcast networks are revealing their fall lineups this week in New York.
Monday, NBC revealed that it was adding a second night of the game show "The Weakest Link." New programs include "Crossing Jordan," a new Monday night drama starring former "Law and Order" D.A. Jill Hennessy as a coroner. And -- BAM! -- Emeril Lagasse goes from a real life chef to a sitcom one on Tuesday nights. The two talked to us about their characters.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
EMERIL LAGASSE, ACTOR: The script is really about Emeril and it's about a lot in the workplace. I am surrounded by funny -- funny women and we go to work and then the bottom line is, what -- what pays us is this cooking thing. And it's funny as can be.
JILL HENNESSY, ACTRESS: I play a character named Jordan Cavannaugh. She's a medical examiner. And she's -- she's got a little problem with dealing with her anger and she's been to an anger management class and has a habit of losing her jobs due to this issue.
And she ends up having to go back to Boston to her original job and, you know, very interesting things sort of ensue after this. And she's a fascinating character. She's not perfect, she's -- the show itself is rather edgy. It's incredibly well-written by the man named Tim Kring who is phenomenal -- he's one of the writers on "Providence."

SYDNEY: Now, we know it all.
It's been quite a year so far for golden girl Kate Hudson. The daughter of Goldie Hawn received an Oscar nomination for her critically lauded performance in "Almost Famous." She is back on the big screen in "About Adam." It's a romantic comedy where the man of her dreams is lusted after by her family, of all people.
Our Lori Blackman sat down with this irreverent woman who says whatever she feels like saying!

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "ABOUT ADAM")
KATE HUDSON: I'm asking you now, will you marry me?
(LAUGHTER)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HUDSON: It's the kind of movie where people would come up to you and go, "God, it was so cute!" I'm like, fine, I'm so happy that you think that a guy screwing an entire family is really cute!
(LAUGHTER)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "ABOUT ADAM")
HUDSON: Can't you see he only has to ask? Come on, how shy can you be -- oh, for God's sake!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
LORI BLACKMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: How was tackling an accent for you? Because it was very, very convincing. Had I not been actually been familiar with who you were --
HUDSON: Yes.
BLACKMAN: -- I would have thought you were Irish.
HUDSON: Well, I'd had that in Ireland, which is, for me -- when you fool the Irish, you done your job. And any American can say whatever they want because they have no idea.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "ABOUT ADAM")
HUDSON (singing): You do something to me that nobody else can do.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BLACKMAN: I was reading an article about you and I read at the end how you said that people seem to perceive you as the girl next door. And you're not necessarily the girl next door.
HUDSON: You know, I think, in the beginning, your desire is that you can allow everybody to get a really good piece of the goodness of who you are. And I realize now, after I'd say about, like, a year, just recently come to terms with the fact that I will never be what people want me to be or what the public thinks I am. They want you to be the girl next door, but they -- but they don't. You know, they want to build you up like that's what you are, and then cut you down like you're not.
BLACKMAN: You are recently married?
HUDSON: Yes.
BLACKMAN: To The Black Crowes' Chris Robinson -- in this film, you fall in love, and you know instantly that Adam is the man for you.
HUDSON: Yes.
BLACKMAN: Did you know right away when you met Chris?
HUDSON: I did. Yes, I did. I did.
BLACKMAN: How did you know?
HUDSON: It's something you can't explain. I just -- It's like a -- electricity just shoots up right up your, you know...
(LAUGHTER)
I'm so bad. But it shoots right up you and out of your head.
BLACKMAN: I understand what you're saying. So I guess that married life is good then, huh?
HUDSON: Yes, married life is amazing. I mean, a soul mate is something that -- Chris and I look at our lives now as: we're the most blessed people in the world, because we met who we're supposed to be with and that's something that is so much greater than what it is we all do, you know, your everyday life.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
SYDNEY: Nice to hear, like mother like daughter.
