DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: News about those tax rebates that a lot are you are expecting, here's Jeanne Meserve -- Jeanne.

JEANNE MESERVE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Daryn, that tax cut legislation hasn't even gone to President Bush yet for his signature, but already talk of speeding up the process. Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill saying today that the rebates of between $300 and $600 dollars Americans are expecting might be speeded up, if he has his way.

As you may, recall the bill, passed finally on Saturday, provides for $1.35 trillion of tax relief over 10 years. It was projected that those refunds this year might come by September. The Associated Press reporting now that O'Neill told his staff Wednesday to look at various options for speeding it up. He is quoted as saying: "I am looking for ways that we might be able to do better than the September period that people have been talking about."

One of my colleagues here, Daryn, saying I hope it comes soon. I have already spent it.

Back to you in Atlanta.

KAGAN: Talking like true CNNer. Jeanne, thank you so much.
