MICHAEL COMPTON, ORLANDO, FLORIDA: Hello, I'm Michael Compton, and I'm from Orlando, Florida. I'd like to know what does it take to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame?
BOB COSTAS, HBO'S "ON THE RECORD": How do you make it to the Hall of Fame?: Practice, practice, practice.
But beyond that, you have to play at least 10 years in the major leagues. Obviously, you have to be an outstanding player, and you must win 75 percent approval from the hundreds of members of the Baseball Writers Association of America who cast their votes.
If you don't get, at some point during your period of eligibility, 75 percent, you can at some point in the future be considered by the Veteran's Committee, which is a smaller group, of 14 or 15 former players, executives, writers, and they review some of the people from years gone by who might have missed election in the past.
