DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Now for the latest on the Chandra Levy search. Police returned to the Washington area parks today, looking for clues about the missing former intern. Our national correspondent Eileen O'Connor joins us from Washington with an update.
Eileen, good morning.
EILEEN O'CONNOR, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Daryn. The police want to talk as well, to more people and probably to Congressman Gary Condit again in their search for Washington intern, Chandra Levy. Police have put memos under the doors of residents in Chandra Levy's apartment building. The memos asked residents to call detectives if they had not been interviewed. Some have already. In addition, desk clerks in the building say that over a month ago, they were asked to sign affidavits about what they had seen of Ms. Levy in the days leading up to her disappearance.
And police sources say they probably will interview Congressman Gary Condit a fourth time, and they have been talking about him taking another polygraph. The police chief was not happy with one his lawyer says he passed that was administered privately. They say they have specific questions they want answered from the congressman.
Now, another worry, police sources say they retrieved a watch case from a garbage can in a Virginia suburb. Sources say the congressman was spotted throwing the case there hours before his apartment was searched by police on July 10. The box was traced to a California store by police and to a woman who police say says she bought the watch for the congressman.
Now, it does not appear to have any connection to Chandra Levy's disappearance, and police say they will continue searching area parks. Searches last week at several parks and Rock Creek park, a huge park in Washington, turned up nothing new. Police say they are looking for a place that a body could be concealed. They also searching Rock Creek park is because Chandra Levy's computer indicated she was looking maps of the park on the morning of her disappearance, which is why they are focusing in on that park.
It is also located close to her apartment building as well as having several jogging paths, and they say that she was a jogger. So, looking carefully there -- Daryn.
KAGAN: Eileen O'Connor, still so many questions in the investigation. Thank you for that update, though. We appreciate it.
