DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We're going to focus now on Washington, the search for missing intern Chandra Levy. It's been almost three months since Levy disappeared. Still, police say they are still struggling to find hard leads in this investigation. For more, let's bring in our national correspondent Bob Franken.
Bob, it seems incredible, with the resources that are put on this case, that there still is no sign of Chandra Levy?
BOB FRANKEN, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Well, of course, as police point out, about three-quarters of missing person cases are never solved. But as you point out, this one has a remarkable amount of resources attached to it, and it's all because of Congressman Gary Condit, who had a relationship, he now acknowledges, with Chandra Levy, who is the missing former Washington intern.
And we're waiting now to find out exactly when the police and Condit can come to an agreement, if they can, so he can be interviewed by investigators a fourth time. They say that they have several questions they want to ask. They want him to fill in some gaps in the timeline he has presented to them so he can account for his time about the time Chandra Levy disappeared May 1. Also to ask why it is that, according to investigators, that he dropped a watch case into a garbage can; a watch case that belonged to a woman who lives in California who said she gave it to him as a gift and that she, too, had a romantic relationship with Congressman Condit.
Now, in the effort to try and find Chandra Levy, those who are trying to work for the family out in California have released some new video. We've seen pictures, of course, of Chandra Levy. Now we can hear her talk. This was shot in their home in California before she came to Washington, talking about the intern kind of program that she might be attending.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CHANDRA LEVY, WASHINGTON INTERN: You have to. People are doing the idea and program or parts of the idea program, they're going to like here in Sacramento but not D.C., or they're going here and to D.C. or they're not doing the idea (ph) program. They just want to experience it.
(END VIDEO CLIP) FRANKEN: Subsequently, of course, Chandra Levy came to Washington and now the search goes on to see what has happened to her. She disappeared on May 1. The last time she can be accounted for is when she was in her apartment using her computer. For the second week now, the police are out at the various parts in Washington, trying to see if they find a trace of Chandra Levy.
Of course, if they were able to find something, it would be bad news. Their worst fears would be realized that she had somehow ran into foul play and had left behind in the park. Thus far, no leads, and as you pointed out, Daryn, it's remarkable, given all the resources that police will be the first to admit they have no clues whatsoever -- Daryn.
KAGAN: Bob Franken in Washington. Bob, the point of releasing those latest pictures, just to keep it fresh and keep new interest in people's minds.
FRANKEN: Well, besides which, the point would be if somebody sees somebody, they now can hear the voice.
KAGAN: That's true. We haven't heard her before. We have not heard her voice. Very good. Bob Franken in Washington. Thank you.
